PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Grupel has supplied an 880kVA genset for the works on the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (Spain). A very special project to guarantee the continuity of operations in the construction work on the tallest tower of the emblematic building, called the Tower of Jesus Christ, which will be 172.50m high.
The generator set with a Grupel brand engine and alternator will operate on standby, starting up in the event of a mains failure, to power the crane that has been installed in the Basilica tower, the largest piece of equipment of its kind in Europe.
The genset includes a synchronization board with the grid, so that when the load is transferred, it never goes over 0, i.e. the crane never runs out of energy. It also has an oil transfer pump, a preheating resistor and a diesel tank with a capacity of 1000 liters.
The Sagrada Familia Basilica, designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí, is one of the most emblematic architectural works in the world. Under construction since 1882, it is scheduled for completion in 2026, marking the centenary of Gaudí’s death. An essential part of this final phase involves the construction of the central tower, which will be the tallest in the basilica and one of the tallest religious towers in Europe.
Once again, Grupel is proving to be a reliable supplier, offering a solution that plays a crucial role in ensuring that the risks of interruptions are mitigated and that construction is not delayed due to energy problems.
