PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Grupel was the company chosen by SIEMENS RAIL AUTOMATION S.A.U to provide support equipment for energy supply in the tunnel construction project that connects the two high-speed train stations in the center of Madrid.

This project, with an investment of around 240 million euros, makes the railway connection between Madrid-Puerta de Atocha and Madrid-Chamartín. It’s an essential infrastructure for hosting the international connections that the Spanish capital receives daily and has the possibility of distributing its passengers arriving or departing from Madrid via the high-speed train.

For this project, Grupel has supplied three diesel gensets to work in emergency mode, two with 66kVA and one with 200kVA, with the following characteristics:

66kVA generators were equipped with:

  • Perkins engine
  • Stamford alternator
  • Soundproof canopy model Grupel 2300II

200kVA generator was equipped with:

  • Perkins engine
  • Stamford alternator
  • Soundproof canopy model Grupel 3200II

To ensure the availability of the equipment and the proper functioning of the infrastructure concerned, 200kVA generator was equipped with a 1000-liter fuel tank that allows 24-hour continuous operation to withstand 75% of the total equipment available.

Grupel is proud to be present in projects of great technological and engineering innovation as is the case of this project that will serve the population of the Spanish capital that every day use these stations of train, in the high-speed railway lines in Madrid.
