PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project for two power plants with the objective of strengthening Paraguay’s national power grid.

The National Electricity Network of Paraguay (ANDE), the Ministry of Finance (MdH) and the World Bank (BM) worked on the definition of a project to strengthen the country’s electricity sector.

The initiative consisted of three components:

  • Modernization of the Distribution network;
  • Inversions on the Transmission;
  • Institutional Strengthening of ANDE by an amount financed by the World Bank.

Grupel supplied two power plants, each one composed of three generators of 1,100 kVA and three generators of 2,300 kVA, for a total of 20.4 MVA of total power.

The installed generators have a low output voltage with 400 V or Medium Voltage with 24,000 V, up to 50 Hz. They are installed so that they can work in parallel or individually with the grid.
