Castor Onshore Project

Turnkey installation of power generation plant with the capacity of 2.5 MW in a natural gas storage plant in Spain.

The Castor Project is an underwater natural gas storage facility on the east coast of Spain, in the municipality of Vinarós, capable of containing 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas: 3 months’ consumption of the Spanish region of Valencia.

This Grupel project consisted of the creation of an engineered system solution with dual use: as an emergency system and as a continuous generation system in a gas storage plant. It consists of two 1,166 KW synchronous generators and SCADA control, instrumentation and communication, auxiliary cooling, ventilation, extraction, among other technical specifications.
